What is Fast Fashion?

What is Fast Fashion?

Fast fashion is a term used to describe cheap and low quality clothing that are rapidly produced and are cycled in and out the market quickly to meet new trends.

Nowadays the production of clothing represents 10% of CO2 emissions globally, the pollution generated by the production of clothing also affects the land and water. And not only its manufacture, even washing clothes leads to a thousand tons of micro plastics a year in the oceans!

In this generation majority of the public is not really aware of the human and environmental abuses that are endemic throughout the fashion industry and that what they are wearing could have been made from a form of exploitation. We don't want to dress that story again.

¡We want to see fashion become a force for good!

Now as ecofriendly company we recognized 2 important points that we have to work on: The textile industry uses around 98 million tons per year of non-renewable resources and approximately 93 billion cubic meters of water to produce clothes in the same period.

What can we do about this?

For this reason, at an industrial level, SAM company believes that fashion and environment can match in a really good way and we propose a model of production, based on four fundamental ecological activities:

1. Stop using dangerous chemicals in production and reduce materials that give off microfibers.

2. Increase the durability of clothing to reduce continuous replacement of these.

3. Start recycling, we’re going to start using recycled clothes in our futures designs, this point is absolutely a new challenge for us as a fashion company but we can get it.

4. Reuse of effluents in the textile industry to save water and avoid contamination

Finally, the SAM company believes that these activities will produce a great change in our lifestyle, fashion is good if we know how to handle it without destroying our planet.

If we want a good tomorrow for our next generations is time to love and take care of our home, the earth.

  1. This subject is still very difficult to talk about, because it has its good parts, such as expressing fashion in many ways, but it is also the fact of how we are polluting the planet with it and what we are doing to reduce pollution today.
Obviously we still have a long way to go to stop polluting the planet at 0%, but I think we are making good progress.
I like the way you handled this topic.

  2. I think it is good idea to make durable clothing, I think a lot of clothing retails just focus on how fashion it is the colletion and dont cake about the quality of their clothes, so if SAM will focus on hight quality and durable clothes for sure I will buy it more. I like the companies who care about more things than just money.

  3. This issue is very important to think about and analyze to protect the environment and above all to raise awareness of the damage that the fashion industries have done to nature. It is essential that there are more people who want to support recycling, reusing their clothes or companies that accumulate clothes to reuse them and create new ones. Helping to maintain the planet for future generations is everyone's commitment.
